NAZI ADMIRATION FOR ISLAM HITLER'S ADMIRATION FOR ISLAM
HITLER MEETING WITH GRAND MUFTI BERLIN, NOVEMBER 28, 1941 According to Minister of Armaments and War Production Albert Speer, Hitler wished that the Caliphate had won the Battle of Tours against the Franks in 732: "The Mohammedan religion would have been much more compatible to us than Christianity. Why did it have to be Christianity with its meekness and flabbiness?"[193] "Had Charles Martel not been victorious at Poitiers — already, you see, the world had fallen into the hands of the Jews, so gutless a thing was Christianity ! — then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism, that cult which glorifies heroism and which opens the seventh Heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world. Christianity alone prevented them from doing so."[194] According to Speer, Hitler was convinced that had Islam taken root in central Europe at this time, the Germanic people would have become the "heirs of that religion" with Islam being "perfectly suited to the Germanic temperament". ‘It’s been our misfortune to have the wrong religion,” Hitler complained to his pet architect Albert Speer. “Why did it have to be Christianity, with its meekness and flabbiness?” Islam was a Männerreligion—a “religion of men”—and hygienic too. The “soldiers of Islam” received a warrior’s heaven, “a real earthly paradise” with “houris” and “wine flowing.” This, Hitler argued, was much more suited to the “Germanic temperament” than the “Jewish filth and priestly twaddle” of Christianity. HIMMLER'S ADMIRATION FOR ISLAM Longerich quotes Himmler as saying in November
1944 that Islam is "a practical and sympathetic religion for soldiers." "It
promises that those who fall in battle will go to heaven." Himmler told his masseur Felix Kersten on
December 2, 1942, that he was reading serious books on the "Mohammedan
religion." When the war was over, he said, he wanted to visit the Islamic
countries himself with a view to continuing his studies. "Look, how wise ("vernünftig")
this religion is."
