In 1700 The Mughal Empire of India was a global superpower

It had the world's largest economy.

It ruled a large percentage of the world's population.

However, by 1800 it had totally collapsed.

What went wrong?

Obviously there were many reasons.

However, a major reason was the violation

of the empire's commitment to religious tolerance

by Emperor Aurangzeb.
